Every vendor says “AI” now. Ask what happens after the reply.

A form-to-email bot, a call tracker, and a booking widget each cover one sliver of the funnel. PracticeKit is the only one that answers the phone, books the consult, holds it with a deposit, and proves the revenue — under a signed BAA.

The alternatives

What each tool actually is

The “AI” your web agency bundles

A chatbot that replies to web-form submissions by email and forwards the enquiry to your front desk — sometimes with a button for staff to click whether the patient showed up. It never touches the phone, never books anything, never takes a dollar, and the “did they show?” tracking is your staff doing data entry. When it moves patient enquiries through generic email tools, the HIPAA exposure is yours, not your web guy's.

The call tracker

Swaps phone numbers to attribute calls to ads — genuinely useful, and we do it natively. But it ends at “a call happened.” It doesn't answer the call, doesn't book, doesn't know if the patient ever sat in a chair, and the major trackers won't sign a BAA for medical practices.

The booking widget

A calendar embed that works when a motivated patient finds it and fills it in. It doesn't answer the leads that arrive as phone calls — in this business, most of them — doesn't follow up, and doesn't connect the booking back to the ad that paid for it.

One question that ends most pitches

“Will you sign a BAA?”

Patient enquiries are PHI. If a vendor moves them through generic chatbots, email tools, and spreadsheets without a Business Associate Agreement, the HIPAA liability sits with your practice — not with whoever sold you the tool. PracticeKit signs a BAA, encrypts PHI at rest, and keeps an append-only audit log. Ask every other vendor the same question and watch what happens.
